The syntheses of 1, 6-dimethyl-3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10-hexahydropyrene, 3, 8-dimethylpyrene, 3, 5, 8-trimethylpyrene, 3, 5, 8, 10-tetramethylpyrene, 3, 8-dicarboxymethyl-pyrene, 3, 5, 8- tricarboxymethyl-pyrene, 3, 5, 8, 10-tetracarboxymethyl-pyrene are described.
