Abstract: The synthesis of cycloheptatrienyldiazomethane is described, and the thermal and photochemical behavior of the compound is delineated. The nmr spectrum of the compound reveals that the cycloheptatrienyl valence tautomer is favored over the norcaradiene isomer.
