Copolymers of poly (ethylene terephthalate)(PET) containing 6-oxy-2-carboxyanthracene (OA) and 6-oxy-2-carboxynaphthalene (ON) structural units are prepared by reactive blending of acetoxyarenecarboxylic acid comonomers with PET.
