“Conditions: 3-4 equiv of EtMgCI, 5 mol% Cp2ZrCI,, 12 h; B-(OMe) 3, H202. bRatios determined by GLC analysis of lactones. Clsolated yields of purified products. Mass balance 295% in all reactions. anti derivatives, ethers 5b and 5c are carbometalated with poor diastereoselectivity.
