Abstract Isolation and properties of 4-(p-hydroxyphenyl-isopropylidene)-p-phenylenoxy- acetic acid (3 a) and homologous products are described. Obtained from 4.4′- isopropyliden-diphenol and chloracetic acid, 3 a reacts with formaldehyde to resolcarboxylic acids, used as base components for water soluble synthetic resin binders.
