E'ollowing our work on the perfluoroalkyl aldehydes' we now present a study of hexafluoroacetone. The objective was the examination of the biological properties of masked hexafluoroacetone (HFA), and as a consequence some simple derivatives of the ketone, with limited stability have been synthesised. The arguments presented in part 1'for this approach are also relevant to the present study.
