Fluoral has been prepared by a number of procedures (1-5) and in each report some mention is given to the formation of a hydrate from the reaction of fluoral with water. The hydrate is reported to be a solid which sublimes at 50' (1) and has a melting point of 68-70" (3, 5) but it has never been fully characterized.
