Abstract The 2-(p-chlorosulfophenyl)-3-phenylindone has been prepared by dissolving 2, 3- diphenyl-indone in chlorosulfonic acid at ordinary temperature. Under the same conditions the 2-phenyl-3-p-tolyl-indone gave beside 2-(p-chlorosulfophenyl)-3-p-tolylindone also 2-(p- chlorosulfophenyl)-3-p-tolyl-4-chlorosulfoindone.
