Over a dozen aliphatic borates have been mentioned in the literature, but the constants and analyses of several of these are missing, including two which are sold commercially. Several of the known bot ates have therefore been prepared under more carefully controlled conditions and the missing data collected. In addition, ten new borates have been prepared in order to study their properties and possible applications, especially in sugar chemistry. ...
