Continuing these studies, we have obtained the novel [~-(2-oxopyrrolidino) ethyl] triethoxysilane (I) in 73% yield, by hydroxysilylating N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone with triethoxysilane. The best catalyst for this reaction was found to be acetylacetosodiodicarbonyl.
