A Brønsted acidic deep eutectic solvent based on choline chloride and p-toluenesulfonic acid was prepared and was found to be effective for the one-pot synthesis of 2, 4, 5- trisubstituted and 1, 2, 4, 5-tetrasubstituted imidazoles with high yields. In addition, the deep eutectic solvent is non-toxic, cost-effective and recyclable.
