Abstract: The kinetics of the alkaline hydrolysis of 2-aryl substituted thiazolidines to aldehydes and aminoethanethiols were measured in 0.001-1.0 M NaOH at 25 OC. While the rates for N-CH3 substituted thiazolidines are linearly dependent on OH-concentration, those for six NH thiazolidines show rate saturation at high OH-concentrations.
