When attempts to prepare certain of the benzenesulfonyl derivatives of o-nitroaniline and o- phenylenediamine led to results somewhat different from those reported in the literature, the synthesis and characterization of all the N-substituted benzenesulfonyl derivatives of these two amines was undertaken.
