N-Nitrosamines can be considered as potential nitric oxide (NO)/nitrosonium ion (NO+) donors. However, the relation of the structures of N-nitrosamines, in particular of aliphatic N- nitrosamines, to the characteristics of release of NO or NO+ remains unclear.
