Abstract A simple method has been developed for the preparation of 1-monoalkyl-and 1, 2- dialkyl-cyclopropenes from cyclopropene and alkyl halides which is in many instances superior to those reported in the literature. High product yields are obtained with primary β- unsubstituted halides and moderate yields when primary β-monosubstituted halides are employed.
