In view of the known antibacterial action of guanidines and, further, of the statement (Safin, Kushner, Brancone, and Subbarow, J. Org. Chem., 1948, 13, 924)“that p- phenylenediguanidine possesses curative properties against Trypanosoma equiperdum in
