The syntheses of soluble oligo (2-alkyl-1, 4-phenylene ethynylene) s via an iterative divergent/convergent approach starting from 1-(diethyltriazyl)-3-alkyl-4-[(trimethylsilyl) ethynyl] benzenes are described.
