No aliphatic amine disulfides were used because of the difficulty in obtaining these compounds in a high degree of purity since upon purification they are prone to break down into mixtures of amine nonosulfide and polysulfides. The heterocyclic amine sulfides behave differently toward carbon disulfide than do the aliphatic amine monosulfides. Both morpholine mono-and disulfides yield (94 to 96%) the thiuram trisulfide.
