Decarboxylation gave The key intermediates in this synthesis are epoxy amides (11) prepared from I and hydrogen peroxide. epoxy amides were converted into the corresponding acids (111) by alkaline hydrolysis. a-keto amides (IV); further, the aniidev (IV) were hydrolyzed to a-keto acids in good yield.
