3p-Hydroxy-5a-pregnan-ZO-one (1 IC).-A solution containing 25 mg of Ilb and 5 ml of 2oj, potassium hydroxide in 98% metha- nol was gently heated at reflux temperature for 3 hr. It was then poured into water, extracted with ethyl acetate, washed with water to neutrality, and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate.
