摘要

Summary The condensation of 4-chloro-o-phenylenediamine with two moles of seventeen aromatic aldehydes under acidic conditions has been found to yield mono and disubstituted benziminazoles in varying proportions. The influence of substituents in the aldehydes on the mode of reaction and cyclisation has been found to be similar to that observed in the condensations with o-phenylenediamine.
