The paper describes the synthetic development of Bertrand-type acyclic carbodicarbene scaffolds derived from an unsymmetrical bis (benzimidazol-2-yl) methane bearing two sterically demanding pendant arms, isopropyl (6a) or cyclohexyl (6b).
