Abstract: Visible light-mediated decarboxylation using N-acyloxyphthalimides as the source for carbon-centered radicals was applied for the synthesis of spirobutenolides. The utility of this approach is demonstrated with the formal synthesis of (S)-(+)-lycoperdic acid.
