The title anion (3) having a C 3v symmetric structure was generated from newly synthesized tristyrylmethane (4) and was characterized by means of 1 H and 13 C NMR spectroscopy. The pK a value of 4 was determined as 20.1 in DMSO–EtOH (9: 1), indicating considerable conjugative stabilization of the anion 3.
