Novel liquid-crystalline polymers (LCPs) containing a long azotolane moiety were synthesized, and the relationship between the chemical structures and the photoresponsive behavior was investigated. All homogeneously aligned LCP films exhibited extremely high values of birefringence (Δ n) in the wide wavelength range.
