Abstract The syntheses of six new host systems are reported whose semirigid, saddle- shaped structures are based on incorporation of three to four dibenzofuran units into a macroring (4-9). The two clefts in 4 have long axes mutually perpendicular to one another, each of which is structurally complementary to molecules such as dibenzofuran.
