Abstract The stem bark of Zanthoxylum rubescens has furnished two new amides identified as N-methyl, N-(3, 4-dimethoxyphenylethyl)-3′, 4′-dimethoxycinnamamide (rubemamide) and N-(3, 4-dimethoxyphenylethyl)-3, 4′-dimethoxycinnamamide (rubemamin).
