" To a 0.5 M solution of aldehyde in CHIClz at-78" C is added 1.1-1.3 equiv of 2 and 3 equiv of BF,. Et, O. After it is stirred at low temperature for 45 min., the reaction is quenched by pouring into saturated aqueous NH4CI and diluting with ether.
