Abstract: The use of low temperature NMR spectroscopy in assignment of configuration and measurement of barriers to torsion about carbonyl-nitrogen bonds in imides and a triamide is described. Configurational assignments were made for six imides (diacylamines), and the barriers to conformational interchange were determined for five of these compounds: diformamide, E, E (85%), E, Z (1 5%), 12.9 kcal/mol; N-methyldiformamide, E, E: ...
