Results Orthocarbonates were obtained by the reaction of a fluoro alcohol with carbon tetrachloride at reflux temperature in the presence of catalytic amounts of anhydrous ferric chloride. The carbon tetrachloride was used as both reactant and solvent, or alternatively as a reactant added to the alcohol dissolved in chloroform.
