I I1 to investigate the possibility of developing potential antidepressant agents from this indolobenzodiazepine tetracycle. Construction of amine-bearing side chains at the central ring nitrogen atom afforded two series of compounds, of formula I1 and 111, which were evaluated for antidepressant activity.
