Abstract The authors describe the isolation of cyclic phosphoric esters from the complex mixture produced by the treatment of certain glycols with polyphosphoric acid, mixture which contains in larger amounts hydroxyalkylphosphoric esters. In this way, trimethylenephosphoric acid (yield 15, 8%) and tetramethylenephosphoric acid (yield 0, 3%) are easily obtained from the corresponding glycols.
