Received June 8, 1975 series of 2-azidopyridine I-oxides was prepared from the corresponding 2-aminopyridine 1-oxides, and their thermal decomposition in benzene, methanol, and aniline was studied. In benzene, decomposition occurred smoothly at 85-95O to give 2-cyano-I-hydroxypyrroles as the exclusive products in good yields. The ...
