A series of alkyl-and halo-substituted 84 l-piperazinyl) imidazo [1, 2-alpyrazinea were prepared using two approaches, the condensation of a-halocarbonyl derivatives with an aminopyrazine or the oxidation-dehydration of a [(@-hydroxyalky1) aminol pyrazine.
