13 12 11 matrix-isolated in argon at 10 K. 2i8 We now report direct spectroscopic evidence for the formation of relatively stable cyclic carbodiimides in thermal nitrene rearrangements. Flash vacuum pyrolyses were carried out at 10-5-10-4 torr in an apparatus allowing the direct IR spectroscopic observation of the products at-196 OC."
