in another investigation required an unequivocal synthesis for this compound. Since it has been demonstrated'that 7-methylquinoline nitrates in the 8-position, the nitration of 2, 4, 7- trimethylquinoline and subsequent reduction of the nitro group appeared to be a suitable route.
