In recent years 1, 5-diamino-1H-tetrazole (1), ditetrazoles 2–5 (Scheme 1), and salt derivatives thereof have been prepared and characterized in order to determine the properties of these high-energy-density materials (HEDM).[1] Surprisingly, substitution of the heterocyclic tetrazole ring with amino groups is one of the simplest methods to enhance thermal stability,[2] even though 1 contains 84.0% nitrogen.
