Olefin-isomer distribution was quantitatively determined for alJ the tosylates I and II in the two reactions. On basis of previous evidence, approximate correction was made, where necessary, for the contribution of syn-pathway (and of solvolysis) to the formation of individual olefins. Geometrical and positional orientation was thus determined, parallelly, for the anti-pathway induced by the dissociated and by the associated tert-butoxide base. ...
