Abstract Reaction of methacrylic acid with 1 F-alkyl 2, 3-epoxy propane (EC 6) is a synthetic route to acrylic monomers carrying the perfluorinated group. Reaction in a melt is catalysed by the potassium salt of the acid. Kinetic studies have been carried out in stoichiometric and non stoichiometric conditions according to salt concentration. A non integral global order shows the complexity of the reaction.
