These reactions occur in the case of open-chain compounds as acetoacetic ester, brnzoylacetic ester, cyanoacetic ester, malonic ester and desoxybenzoin; also heterocyclic compounds as thiazolidones, pyrazolones, isoxazolones and imidazolones are similarly reactive.
