Abstract: The reaction of arc generated carbon atoms with CF4 at 77 K in the presence of alkene trapping agents results in the formation of fluorocyclopropanes and 1.1- difluoroalkanes. The fluorocyclopropanes are postulated to arise by addition of CF to the double bond generating a cyclopropyl radical which abstracts H.
