Abstract Herein, the first comparison of the mechanisms of glucose-to-fructose isomerization in aqueous media enabled by homogeneous (CrCl 3 and AlCl 3) and heterogeneous catalysts (Sn-beta) by using isotopic-labeling studies is reported.
