Structure 111, 4-~-ribofuranosyl-6-methyl-asym-triazine-3, 5 (2, 4)-dione, was assigned after studying the properties of a model compound, 4, G-dimethyl-asym-triazine-3, 5 (2, 4)-dione (XI). This compound was prepared by methylation of VI11 with methyl iodide. Attachment of the methyl group to N-4 was demonstrated by heating the compound with strong alltali.
