Abstract While attempting to synthesize nitriles from aldoximes using O-sulfonate esters of oxyma [ethyl 2-cyano-2-(hydroxyimino) acetate], an unexpected involvement of oxyma cleaved product in promoting the synthesis of nitriles was observed.
