Abstract Alkaline hydrolysis of 3-tert-butyl-7, 7-bis (hydroxymethyl)-3, 4-dihydro-2H-thiazolo [3, 2-a][1, 3, 5]-triazin-6 (7H)-one can occur in three directions: with cleavage of the tetrahydrotriazine ring, with cleavage of the thiazolidine ring, and also with opening of both rings.
