These results have led us to question the generally held belief2 that aromatic mononitro compounds undergo 1, 2 addition only in reactions with alkyl Grignard reagents. As preexistent literature data on 1, 2 addition were obtained mainly from reactions carried out on monocyclic aromatic systems, while our results were restricted to reactions of bicyclic systems, we were prompted to check the validity of our findings in the case of monocyclic ...
