Abstract Chemoselectivity in the reactions between ethyl 4, 4, 4-trifluoroacetoacetate (ethyl 4, 4, 4-trifluoro-3-oxobutanoate) and various anilines was systematically studied as a function of the reaction conditions used (solvent/temperature, catalyst).
