Novel di (cation radical) s and tri (cation radical) s are prepared by oxidation of the corresponding 1, 3-phenylenebis [[(4-tert-butylphenyl) methylene] triphenylphosphorane] and 1, 3, 5-benzenetriyltris [[(4-tert-butylphenyl) methylene] triphenylphosphorane] precursors.
