Abstract: The ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of enantiomerically pure dicarboalkoxynorbornadienes (2, 3-(C02R*)~-norbornadiene where R*=(lR, 2S, SR)-(-)- menthyl (2a) or (R)-(-)-pantalactonyl (2b)) with Mo-(CHCMe2Ph)(NAr)(O+ Bu) 2 (la)(Ar= 2, 6- i-PrzC&) yields high trans, highly tactic polymers.
