CHa CH2 CH3 IX syntheses gave a single pure product, but the olefins could be separated from each other by gas chromatography and the peaks in the chromatograms identified. For example, the common product in dehydrations of I and IV must be 111. The predominant (ca. 807,) product from dehydration of VI1 was assumed to be VIII.
